In collaboration with the Municipality of Zoetermeer and the National Video Game Museum, Merlin organized a unique crisis simulation exercise for students at The Hague University of Applied Sciences. The students were faced with a zombie outbreak in Zoetermeer.
During the event, the students were divided into two crisis response teams. Using our software tools— CrisisSuite for managing information and actions, and the Simulated Media Tool (SMT) to create a realistic experience through simulated media reports—the students worked hard to manage the crisis. Fortunately, the crisis response teams succeeded in saving the city of Zoetermeer.
After the simulation, the participants were given a tour of the Video Game Museum, which is highly recommended for anyone interested in the history and development of video games. Of course, there was also some gaming!
Thanks to Harold Beffers and Irma de Graaff of the Municipality of Zoetermeer for their excellent organization, the National Video Game Museum for its hospitality and venue, and all the students and Jeroen Derwort (THUAS GameLab) for their dedication and enthusiasm.
The event was part of the Upstream Festival.
