In collaboration with the Municipality of Zoetermeer and the National Videogame Museum, Merlin organized a unique crisis simulation exercise for students from The Hague University of Applied Sciences. The students were confronted with a zombie outbreak in Zoetermeer.
During the event, the students were divided into two crisis teams. Using our software tools— CrisisSuite for managing information and actions, and the Simulated Media Tool (SMT) for a realistic experience through simulated media reports—the students worked hard to tackle the crisis. Fortunately, the crisis teams succeeded in saving the city of Zoetermeer.
After the simulation, participants received a tour of the Videogame Museum, which is highly recommended for anyone interested in the history and development of video games. Naturally, there was also some gaming!
Our gratitude to Harold Beffers and Irma de Graaff from the Municipality of Zoetermeer for their excellent organization, the National Videogame Museum for their hospitality and location, and all students and Jeroen Derwort (THUAS GameLab) for their dedication and enthusiasm.
The event was part of the Upstream Festival.
