Too many meetings? Then the crisis team spends too much time deliberating, and not enough gets done. Not enough meetings? Then you miss crucial updates and lose control.
The first meeting should take place as soon as possible to assess the crisis and outline the initial steps to be taken.
In the early stages, you’ll meet more frequently—for example, every hour. Keep meetings to a maximum of 20 minutes and focus on updates, decision-making, and action items. No endless discussions.
Later in the crisis, once the situation is more under control, the frequency of meetings can be reduced—for example, to twice or once a day. Since the pressure will have eased somewhat by then, the crisis meetings can also be a little longer.
