Our objective is to assist every organization in the Netherlands in achieving optimal preparedness for a crisis. When guiding our clients through this process, we consistently employ a structured step-by-step plan. We have now elaborated this plan into our Crisis Management Maturity Model, which we make available free of charge to all organizations. Furthermore, we have developed a QuickScan tool that facilitates a straightforward self-assessment. This tool is complimentary and can be accessed here.
By definition, a crisis represents a situation where the precise outcome is unknown. To effectively prepare for such eventualities, a generic approach is essential. At Merlin, we employ a structured step-by-step plan for this purpose. This process provides clarity and enables us to proactively enhance a crisis organization's capabilities, requiring a modest investment and without over-burdening the organization.
We have now elaborated this step-by-step plan into the Merlin Crisis Management Maturity Model (MCV), about which I recently authored an article. This model is designed for every crisis professional seeking to understand their current position and identify potential next steps for improvement.
The model illustrates all the essential components of crisis management and suggests an optimal sequence for their implementation. This provides insight into vulnerabilities, enabling better preparation for your crisis organization.
The MCV serves as a roadmap outlining logical steps to progress from point A to point B. The QuickScan assists in placing the prominent red arrow on this roadmap, indicating: 'You are here now'.
The QuickScan requires you to answer several questions. These questions ascertain which components you have implemented and at what level. Your responses will indicate your current maturity level.
Upon completion of the QuickScan, you will receive a report from us. In addition to indicating your organization's maturity level, we will provide suggestions for improvement potential. This will highlight steps that can quickly yield results to advance to the next level. Furthermore, alongside the report, you will receive several useful templates. One of these templates is an example crisis management plan, which you can also download directly via this link.
Many crisis organizations find it challenging to engage the rest of the organization. The maturity model and QuickScan facilitate the involvement of executives and other stakeholders in the improvement process, thereby making it easier to build support for necessary investments.
